25-06-2019 Blog

Summer has arrived, the school holidays are fast approaching or you might be finding yourself with some well deserved time off work. There is plenty to do in Kent during the summer months whilst the kids are off school, but to help you out, we have whittled them down to our top 3 that we can recommend.

1. Leeds Castle & Go Ape

Leeds Castle, the palace once used by the famous Henry VIII and his first wife, has become one of the most visited historic buildings in Britain and is celebrating its 900th year this year. It boasts an impressive 500 acres of stunning parkland and impressive gardens to explore, whilst also having lots to do for the family such as the maze, falconry displays, adventure playgrounds and more. Throughout the year Leeds Castle holds a variety of events such as the medieval jousting tournaments and for those who are petrol heads, Motors by the Moat. In the summer we also see the return of the Leeds Castle Classical Concert on 13th July, and the Open Air Cinema in August with a variety of films including 2018’s popular Bohemian Rhapsody. Another way to get the whole family involved on a day out is by visiting the Go Ape centre at Leeds Castle, where you can explore woodland via a tree top canopy and rope course! Leeds Castle is also only 5 minutes away from the village of Harrietsham, where our Churchfields development is located.

They are proudly not a Zoo but a breeding sanctuary, and with over 700 animals to see we are sure you’ll learn a lot about some of the world’s most amazing animals. You’ll find a play area and the ‘Dinosaur Forest’ a virtual reality experience that can keep the kids entertained, as well as a cafe to enjoy some lunch. There is lots to see and do at this popular attraction, making it a great day out with the whole family.

3. The Hop Farm

The Hop Farm is a family park in Paddock Wood in Kent. It is over 450 years old and has over 400 acres of beautiful parkland, while presenting the largest collection of Oast Houses in the world. There is lots for the kids to do, from jumping pillows, bumper cars, an outdoor play area, an animal farm and lots more! There are also a few great places to grab a bite to eat and a coffee.
