16-03-2022 Blog

Retirement is a great time for many as they finally get to enjoy the perks of not having to work any longer. Finding the perfect retirement property is important in allowing you to enjoy life to its fullest after working life. This blog highlights 6 reasons why our new build bungalows are perfect for your retirement!

1. No Stairs and No Scares

As people get older the thought of having to navigate up and down stairs can be daunting. The NHS statistics show that around 1 in 3 adults over 65 and half of people over 80 will have at least one fall a year! The older you get the higher the possibility of a serious injury from a fall, and this can lead to other impacts such as loss of confidence and become withdrawn.

This is why our bungalows are perfect, as with no stairs to navigate the chance of falls reduces massively. Our bungalows offer all that you could want and need, finished to a high modern standard. If you want a stress-free easy retirement, our Clarendon bungalows could be for you.

2. Growing Living Age

The Government office for science, state that the demand for housing that meets the needs of older people will increase as the population ages. According to an APPG report, 96% of the elderly in the UK are living in mainstream housing, and most hope to live independently at home for their entire life. However, without the correct housing for an aging population, living in a mainstream home independently is almost impossible.

Assisted living properties such as our previous Cobnut Park are perfect for living independently with 2 hours of care per week provided to help you do some of the tasks you may struggle with. If you are interested in assisted living, contact us today to register your interest in our future bungalow developments.

3. Rising Bungalow Popularity and Price

With average house prices exceeding £260,000 for the first time, house prices continue to reach new highs. A typical home is now around 20% more expensive than in early 2020 before the COVID-19 Pandemic started. These numbers show no indication of slowing down. With an annual growth surge of 12.6% and an increase of house prices of almost £30,000 between February 2021 and February 2022 house prices continue to rise.

While house prices continue to rise, bungalow prices have also started to soar. With a revival of popularity, bungalows have seen an increase in interest as people are generally living for longer.

One in five people looking to move in the next five years are wanting to move into a bungalow and this figure will continue to grow as the population ages. Subsequently, Rightmove saw an increase of 10.5% in the value of single storey homes last year.

Our three bungalows at Miller’s Meadow are priced between £450,000 and £550,000. Located in the picturesque Kent village of Sandhurst, these bungalows will be ideal for your retirement.
