Addington is a charming village in West Malling. Although only 700 acres and with less than 300 houses, Addington demands notice for its interesting history, local attractions and peaceful setting.

The Fairways, a beautiful collection of five 3-bedroom bungalows, was a previous Clarendon Homes development located in Addington. All of these properties have now been sold, but to see more Clarendon bungalows, check out our Cobnut Park development today.

Local Attractions

Within the parish you will find quaint pub The Angel Inn with a 4-star TripAdvisor rating, St. Margaret’s grade 1 listed church, and pavilion. The
village is also home to Addington Village Cricket Club, which has two Saturday teams and a 1st XI in Division 2 of the Kent League.

One of the most popular local attractions is West Malling Golf Club which features two challenging 18-hole courses, two putting greens, a covered driving range, practice chipping and bunker area. There are also hacking and equestrian services nearby.

The nearby towns of Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells provide many independent shops and restaurants, while Maidstone is home to Fremlin Walk shopping centre, with many well known high street chains as well as leisure complex home to Odeon cinema, Hollywood Bowl, Gravity Trampoline Park and a range of restaurants. Hawkhurst is also a nearby village with beautiful countryside’s.

Local School

As the village does not have any of its own schools, the majority of children attend nearby primary schools in Offham, Wrotham, or Trottiscliffe. Nearby secondary schools The Malling School, The Holmesdale School and Wrotham School are popular choices for older children, with popular grammar schools the Weald of Kent and Oakwood Park only a short journey away.

History

Addington is home to a wealth of history, being one of the few villages in the country that has had over 5,000 years of continuous habitation, and houses numerous sites of historical significance, such as the Long Barrows. The two Neolithic sites have been somewhat destroyed due to building works, such as the construction of the motorway, however artefacts from a dig of the Chestnuts long barrow (the better preserved of the two) are on display in the Maidstone Museum.

Transport Links

The village has great travel links, serviced by the 58, 70 and 222 bus routes. The nearest railway stations are Borough Green and West Malling, on the Maidstone East Line. The M20, M26 and M25 motorways can also be accessed via Junction 2a in Wrotham.

The Fairways, located in picturesque cul-de- sac Plowenders Close in Addington, is a collection of five 3-bedroom bungalows. Each home features large glass doors in the living room which open onto landscaped gardens, stylish kitchen complete with the latest appliances, a master en-suite wet room shower, and a spacious family bathroom.
