28-07-2015 Blog

In the 2014 Halifax Quality of Life survey, 5 Kent towns were voted in the Top 50 best places to live in the UK, and for good reason too! So, just what is it about Kent that makes it such a great place to live?

Travel links

Situated in the South East corner, Kent has fantastic transport links to London making for a stress-free journey to work or a day out in the vibrant city. You can get from Royal Tunbridge Wells, Cranbrook, or Maidstone East to London in around hour or less. Or, even better, there’s a high speed service from Ashford which will get you to the big smoke in just 38 minutes!

What’s more, the new Eurostar high speed train link from Ebbsfleet or Ashford International means that you can be in Paris in just 2 hours 15 mins. Lunch anyone?

Kent is also very well connected, with the A2, M2, M25, M20, M26 and A28 all close by.

Character and beauty

With rolling hills, outstanding areas of natural beauty and picturesque villages, Kent certainly lives up to its name of The Garden of England. There is also a wide range of things to see and do. Kent is a varied and exciting place, from the White Cliffs of Dover, vineyards, castles and cathedrals, to Bluewater, one of the largest shopping centres in Europe. Kent really does have something for everyone.

There are a number of bustling towns and cities, packed full of personality such as Canterbury and Whitstable. Canterbury has three universities meaning that it’s a thriving place to be, with stylish bars and clubs for a great night out!

Schools

There are plenty of excellent schools in the area including 94 deemed ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted (2014), making it a great place to raise a family.

On the whole, house prices in Kent are more reasonable than other home counties such as Surrey and Sussex with the average price of a detached property at £350,059 meaning that you can find your perfect home for less!
